Review of the movie ‘From Paris with Love’

This is probably a movie that a lot of people will be torn over.  While I don’t think very many people will describe it as a ‘great’ movie, I think there will be some debate over whether it was a ‘decent’ movie or ‘almost unwatchable’.  I can honestly say that both opinions would have plenty of validity to them, even though I would rate it as a ‘decent’ movie.  Not one I would necessarily advise you to go see it in theaters, but it is worth a DVD rental.  At the same time, there are better movies out recently, one of which I will review today or tomorrow.  John Travolta plays the lead role in this movie, and the producers tout it as similar to ‘Pulp Fiction’.  I would agree that Travolta does display the same off-beat sense of humor as in ‘Pulp Fiction’, but here it takes a backseat to the plot of the story.  While it might make for great tag lines for the movie, the only other thing is does is provide some sort of character development for an otherwise dry character.  One last thing I will mention is that while it is not an overly violent movie, it’s scenes of violence are more graphic and detailed.  It is something most of us expect with this type of movie, but some of the bullet holes can be more up close and personal than usual.  Stay tuned for my review of the movie ‘Edge of Darkness’, you don’t want to miss it.
