Review of the movie ‘Alice in Wonderland’

As many people have said, this movie isn’t really intended for young children, and it is different from the original Disney movie in terms of events in the movie as well.  Without giving away too much of a spoiler, the only real violence in the movie is a scene where a small mouse, under attack from a dog-like animal, plucks out his eyeball, much like an olive, and a scene where a dragon-like creature gets beheaded.  To be fair, the eyeball does later get returned to it’s rightful owner, and all is well.  However, the events of this movie actually take place when Alice is a young adult, almost ready to get married.  The events in Lewis Carroll’s book did take place, although Alice, being young at the time, believes it was all just a dream (or nightmare).  Overall, this movie had and excellent pace, good character detail, and interesting camera angles, all which you would expect from a Tim Burton-directed movie.  There is certainly enough in this movie to keep almost anyone engaged, making it a great all-around movie,  at the theaters of on DVD.
